CornFestival2007

Saturday, September 15th was the date of the annual Corn Festival which was held at the Norwell Science Center from 10-4:00 pm. This year's festival featured hayrides and trips up and down the driveway in a fire engine with the siren going.

A number of exhibitors included bird and figure woodcarvers, chain saw carving in which a small bear was created from a tree stump, a wood scooping demonstration in the production of wooden trenchers and of course woodturning courtesy of the Massachusetts South Shore Woodturners.

We demonstrated woodturning techniques to an assorted group of youngsters and their parents and even sold a few objects. Specialty demo of the day featured mushrooms with a natural edge and tops that that spun with ease.

Although the rain date was Sunday, September 16th, the Corn
Festival committee took a chance that the weather would clear. It didn't.
